What We Do
Rilum promotes rural enterprise by facilitating Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Producer groups, Cooperative Societies and Community Based Institutions (CBIs), and advocating for farmers on issues of land rights, tenancy security, fair prices, market linkage and capital support. Rilum works to affect policy change through research and linked advocacy.
With an aim to improve its understanding on prevailing livelihood profile and strengthen its livelihood initiatives, Local Area Analysis (LAA) was conducted in its operational region. With the acknowledgement of grounded information and insights, needs assessment and market study, it has strengthen our strand on our cause and initiatives.

Our Geographic Focus:
Rilum Foundation primarily operates in the rural areas of East Khasi Hills District, West Jaintia Hills District, and Ri Bhoi District in Meghalaya. Our projects are designed to address the specific needs and challenges faced by these communities.
Current Projects:
- Empowering Rural Producers Project supported by the Meghalaya Basin Management Authority (MBMA)
- Bee Project for Diversified Livelihood 1 - Azim Premji Foundation
- Bee Project for Diversified Livelihood 2 - KVIC
- Promotion of Organic Farming with Sustainable Land Management Approaches - MBMA
Project Goals:
- Strengthening Producer Groups:
We aim to form and support producer groups within these villages to enhance the collective bargaining power of rural farmers and artisans. - Improving Market Access:
We are working to connect producers with potential buyers and markets, ensuring fair prices and sustainable livelihoods. - Promoting Value Addition:
We are encouraging producers to adopt value-added techniques to increase the profitability of their products. - Enhancing Rural Livelihoods:
Ultimately, this project seeks to improve the economic well-being of rural communities by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
